Some thoughts on
CEFIRE
In terms of
methodology, my favourite session has been the one focusing on
grammar because it is often perceived as both dull to teach and dull
to learn (even though I’m kind of sad and enjoy it!) It was good to
hear the ideas that some of the teachers came up with for making it
more interesting and relevant to students.
Turning grammar
into a quiz by using something like Who Wants to be a Millionaire is,
I think, a great way for students to learn and revise without even
realising it and this is something I will look to incorporate into my
lessons in the future.
For me, CEFIRE
hasn’t just been a one-way process with the teachers getting the
chance to improve their spoken English. I have taken a lot from the
sessions through the collective experience of the teachers (including
Oana), their enthusiasm, and numerous activity suggestions.
We will improve our oral speaking skills, thank you!
