Here´s a little post about how CEFIRE has influenced me so far...

1. Popcorn!

I used a pronunciation game suggested by Julia last week in my 6PRI class yesterday. It went really well, and by the end one student was enthusiastically chanting ´pop!´ (To his disappointment all the ´pop!´s´had already been chosen but I didn't´t have the heart to tell him.) We did two rounds; two syllables and then three syllables afterwards. I would definitely use this game again, and could use it as a incentive for good behavior in upcoming classes. Thanks Julia!

2. Blogs

After seeing Arantxa´s blog (http://myenglishcornerbyarantxa.blogspot.com.es/) I have now decided that I will start my own blog for teaching when I start my new job. I will be starting a full-time teaching position in Japan from April 1st and I think that having a blog will be a great way to record experiences, share progress and -hopefully- inspire other teachers to travel. Thanks Arantxa!

3. Houses

Carmen showed us a great idea last week. I have not had the chance to use it yet but I intend to when the opportunity comes up! The idea is that students fold a piece of A4 paper into the shape of a house. It has several rooms and students can draw the rooms and furniture with labels. Me and fellow teacher Laura made a video on ´How to Make a Paper House´ which you can watch here...
